Agreed. Excellent opinion!
Ok I'll correct you.

generally it coz of english is international languange.
You don't need to put "of" there.

there are many text book or e-book[likes tutorial] with best quality in english
If you type many, you should change the "book"s into plural form.

maybe u can see from the ads in newspaper lot of company prefer their employee that can speak in english as general language, indonesia company as same like that too, maybe not only english that indonesian student prefer, but that become an obligation for them that they doesnt realize it...

regards,
alL

hmm study english is a must but don't forget for our own language :D

because in english lesson here we dont need to really study the literature
like in bahasa indonesia we make poems, interpret novels, etc etc
in english lesson we dont need to learn those kind of difficult things that can blow up my mind!!
well i dont know about the other people, but for me that's the reason why i prefer english lesson
but that too until i met this crazy english teacher in my 12th grade!!
so basically, it's all because of the teacher and the fun we get while learning

english is international language...wherever we go...we can comunicate with english...we only use bahasa in indo :P

^ yea i know
but we learn more complicated things in bahasa indonesia
well at least that's at school
i dunno about english lesson at university, havent tried yet

I don't like study English...but I don't know why my friends and my teachers always say my English is very good, and I don't know why I can study English well.
I prefer Bahasa than English.
But my English score always better than my Bahasa score.
And I never study English before exam except Proverbs (because it's very hard).
I speak and write English with my feeling.

Sorry if my words are wrong...
Or I have grammar wrong.

Its fairly simple.. With the usage of the english language, you can actually talk with almost whoever you want.. This is because English is the second most used language (first is Mandarin).. In a country like Indonesia where most people doesn't speak English fluently, you can actually have pride by talking in the English language..

American/British men usually have trouble communicating with the local people here.. This is considered a problem.. As you can see, there are more tourists coming to Indonesia. I'm sure you don't expect them to learn the Indonesian language do you? If you think that way, you are actually holding back the tourists from coming to your country..

To tell you the truth, I my self is a foreigner.. In fact, I'm a Malaysian.. English is not really hard.. If you have proper guidance that is..

Its actually good to be a dual/tri/multi-lingua (someone who can speak more than two/three/or more languages).. In fact, job opportunities come easily to people who can communicate in a lot of different languages...

I hope the Indonesians in the future will be able to communicate more in English.. At least have the basic knowledge and how to pronounciate the words correctly.. For the rest of the things, just DIGRESS

EDIT:::::

@Kebod : Its very pitiful that you don't use the talents you possess.. Most of the Indonesians dislike the English language because they thought it might interfere with their mother language.. This is not true.. ABSOLUTELY NOT.. I can speak Indo/Malay/English/--> Chinese <-- (Learning) and its fun to understand what other people are talkin about

mfashraf...
actually , that's why indonesian people have to learn English....
that's not the cause... but the trigger....

why? i think it's easier to use english...but some words can't told in english such as warung kopi, gado2, lontong, etc

for me basically English is global language... it's more attractive (though it's harder to).... yeah that's the main reason for me

because English is the global language and England have so many region (in the past).

coz English is an International Language or "Everybody knows English Language"

coz English is an International Language or "Everybody knows English Language"

they know but they don't understand ...

@chocobokiller : warung kopi... = coffee shop? ; gado2 in english.. SALAD with bean sauce?? ^^

students prefer learning english than bahasa, cos there's no point learning something u already know. if you wanna learn the linguistics aspect or maybe literature aspects of bahasa, then that's optional. but by the time students reach high school, there should be no MUST in going deeper into bahasa. everything students learn in SD and SMP should be enough. anything further than that is "looking at an elephant 1 meter away through a telescope" - over-complicating an issue.

why? i think it's easier to use english...but some words can't told in english such as warung kopi, gado2, lontong, etc

there's a misperception here. those words (except coffee shop) aren't "told in english". they are already english :D.
you see, when something isn't naturally made or grown in english speaking countries or cultures, you call it as it is - you don't invent a western-sounding word and call it english. that's how english words are made. for example, "sushi" is english. "sari" is also english. even "batik". anything you can find in an official english-to-english dictionary (webster for example) is 'english'. i'm sure that in 2 years time, you will see 'gado-gado' in those dictionaries. all it takes is an indonesian creative enough to open a gado-gado shop in the US or any other english-speaking countries. once the word is widely used by people, it will be added and excepted as english.:D

I think if they speak english, it will make them look smarter
Jak ass :D

I'ts easier to speak in english and also like everyone said that english is an international language.
