Your Own Life Transformation

When a person says that life is not worth living, then this person certainly knows nothing about life. He might be in the verge of nowhere. There are downturns in life, but that does not necessary mean that you should give up on things. There are still many great things in life worth doing and pursuing. The world is big out there awaiting us to explore. We, as human beings, are truly blessed with talents and potentials to reach all of our dreams. Unfortunately, only some people realize and fully utilize the blessings. What happens to the rest? They don’t have the enthusiasm and the drive to maximize their potentials. Many of them lack of motivation. Motivation is the energy of our actions. There are internal motivation which comes from within you and external motivation in the form of reward, recognition, and support from others. Internal motivation plays a vital role in keeping you energized and spirited. However, internal motivation is not always on a steady state. Very often, it deteriorates especially when you are overwhelmed by problems. Let us take a glimpse of it.

There are some factors to your deteriorating motivation. You might feel bored going through life with routine activities. You might fail along the way thus make you feel desperate and unwilling to proceed. There might be consistent bad influence around you. Pay attention to the people you associate with. Another reason is you don’t know your life purpose or if you have one, probably it needs clear directions. If you don’t have one, make one. Remember a phrase saying “The poorest man in the world is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream.” Redefine, if necessary, your ultimate goals. Be confident about yourself. Get a mental picture of yourself in the next 5 or ten years. It does not matter who you are now, what matters is who you will be in the future.

As common as it may be to anyone, you might not feel motivated all the time. There are moments when you feel miserable and seem to lose your energy. Embrace the feelings and realize that they are only temporary. Even though you fail this one, you will win back at another turn. Life is not about how many times you fail, it’s about how many times you bounce back when you fail. Learn lessons when you fail. Never lose your hopes and strengths. Remember that every cloud has a silver lining. There’s a pot of gold at the other end of the rainbow. Whatever you do now, do it with passion. Being passionate in the things you do is one of the key to success. Even if you are passionate in what you do, problems will still pop up. For as long as you live, you will never be able to go away from problems. Fortunately, you can choose how to respond to problems. When you come across problem or turbulence in life, bear in mind that you are bigger than them. You are the master. You can tell what to do. This mindset is closely related to having a positive mental attitude which in turn defines your self-image. How do you see yourself? Whatever you say to yourself will make you. If you expect positive outcomes, then you have to start feeding yourself positive attributes. Self confidence is likely to become a leading result as a consequence of having positive mental attitude.

When you have them all - motivation, life purpose, directions, self-image – you are more than ready for your next venture. Spread wings, reach for success, strive for excellence, go to the next level and continue to deliver substantial meaning to lives.

Opinion & Observation

Putting aside "credentials" or "qualifications", here are my opinion on the article:

"When a person says that life is not worth living, then this person certainly knows nothing about life. "

I think that "life" cannot be easily defined in terms of certain polarities, such as, good/bad, black/white, or know/don't know. I think that it the person himself/herself would understand better why he/she thinks in a certain way, although at that time he/she may not consciously understand why he/she thinks that way. Human mind itself is best described as a super-computer-machine that operates in constant state of oxymoron. For example, one thinks one knows, but one doesn't. Or one thinks one is right, but in actuality, one is wrong. An alternative perspective to look at the same issue may be to dig deeper and deeper in attempt to discover the real truth about why or why not certain things are. In addition, I think that it is absolutely acceptable to infuse certain amount of motivational positivity, but that it may "cross the line" when it dictates that other things that are not according to certain principles are in the wrong.

Simply ask yourself, "In general, do you think that you are better than everyone else?" ... Most answers would be a "Yes."

"He might be in the verge of nowhere."

Again, "nowhere" is a rather subjective and context-dependent. To define "nowhere", one may comfortably have to define where "somewhere" is. And that, is where things get a bit fuzzy.

"There are downturns in life, but that does not necessary mean that you should give up on things."

Agree. Downturns exist only because Upturns exist, there would be no way to define it otherwise. To take it a bit further, moments of downturn shouldn't derive giving-up, just as moments of upturns shouldn't delude one into thinking that "that's it" and lax one's efforts and motivation.

"There are still many great things in life worth doing and pursuing. The world is big out there awaiting us to explore. "

Agree. Additionally, it is almost never too late to pursue something new, not matter how old you are (fantastic examples: Colonel Sanders of KFC, Ronald Reagan as President and Ray Kroc of McDonalds, etc). And it's true, despite the "comfortable" and "familiar" feeling we may have dwelling within our comfort-zone, we may very well be "left-behind".

As with most things in life, "success" is also something that is subjective, relative and context-dependent. It means different things to different people.

"We, as human beings, are truly blessed with talents and potentials to reach all of our dreams. "

True. Although biologically we are also mammals, just like, say horses or dogs are, we are "blessed" with different cerebral wiring and design. Furthermore, we are "blessed" with the ability to communicate linguistically, rather than just, say neighs or grunts. And the lingustic advantage alone enables us to advance evolve, both physically and metaphorically, way beyond other mammals can do. Yet our very strength tend to also be our weakness.

"Unfortunately, only some people realize and fully utilize the blessings. "

I'd say that, in fact, MOST do not realize and fully utilize the so-called "blessings". This observation can be verified by looking at the current demographical landscape, all around the world. How the "richer" gets richer and the "poorer" gets poorer. Although this statement beg for elaboration from other field of endeavour, other than "motivational" and "self-help", one can also reflect something from the statement. That it is a fact that in our current civilization, only few achieve personal "success" and most would be content with the mere act of treading along the path of mediocrity.

What happens to the rest?

Without trying to be insensitive, I would say that the reason that there are far more people fall under the category of "underachiever" than there are in the "superachiever" is that IT EASIER TO STAY MEDIOCRE. And by that, I do not mean that to be successful, one must always take the most difficult path, that would be incorrect. Nor I am saying that the most complicated path will surely lead to success. That would also be wrong.

Some of the reasons why it is easier to remain mediocre than it is to aim higher:

  1. You will never be wrong or at fault. Whenever something is wrong, or doesn't work out, it's ALWAYS someone else's fault. Maybe the government, perhaps your parents, perhaps your peers, or your environment, or your education, or probably even the whole goddamned universe. But it's NEVER you.
  2. By being mediocre you wouldn't fall into those worldly (sinful, even) tempations. Because being successful means that your friends are only after your money. And being successful means that you'll love money, and with that you'll become less spriritual and less decent. Not to mention, ALL rich people are evil and mean anyway.

"They don’t have the enthusiasm and the drive to maximize their potentials. Many of them lack of motivation. Motivation is the energy of our actions."

With the fading-away of hope, so would passion. And when passion is lost, all would be lost. Another reason that most do not have the enthusiasm and drive would be the "lack of purpose". And by "purpose", I do not mean any material-oriented purposes will do. I mean purposes much deeper than mere material goals. When your goals are mere material/monetary, passion and enthusiasm won't be there for long. Simply speaking, one should be clear about one's "Purpose of Life". And having only monetary-based goals as one's purpose of life is actually less than pedanticness of thinking. It can be real sad, actually.

"There are internal motivation which comes from within you and external motivation in the form of reward, recognition, and support from others. "

True. Internal means "self-generated". External means "environment-generated". No amount of "environment-genrated" motivation can "sink-in" if one is lacking in "self-generated" motivation. It is not surprising, that too much of externally-generated motivation may render the person dependent upon it.

"Internal motivation plays a vital role in keeping you energized and spirited. However, internal motivation is not always on a steady state. Very often, it deteriorates especially when you are overwhelmed by problems."

My opinion is that internal motivation may not only possibly deteriorates when one is overwhelmed by problems, but also it may delude the person into thinking that "everything" is alright, while, in actuality. His/her very own "motivation" is leading him/her into danger.

"There are some factors to your deteriorating motivation. You might feel bored going through life with routine activities. You might fail along the way thus make you feel desperate and unwilling to proceed. "

The fact is that most of us have rather limited "attention-span" in almost every aspect of our lives. Even in something basic such as food and sexual interests.

Realizing and accepting this fact is the first step towards being able to operate as the otherwise.

"There might be consistent bad influence around you. Pay attention to the people you associate with. "

Considering the demographic "segregration" exist in our society today. If you are within a certain environment to start with, it is even more likely that you will be influenced by the population contained within the environment itself. Therefore, it can be likened like a snowball. The more you start in a rather "undersirable" environment, the more likely you'd be "undersirable" to start with and even more "undesireable" as you prod along.

Because it is only human to want to associate with or belong to certain group, we are even more likely to "go with the flow" with those around us.

Undesireable, but true.

"Another reason is you don’t know your life purpose or if you have one, probably it needs clear directions. If you don’t have one, make one. "

Well said.

"Remember a phrase saying “The poorest man in the world is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream.” Redefine, if necessary, your ultimate goals. "

Or I may add, "The poorest man in the world is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a sense (of purpose)".

"Be confident about yourself. Get a mental picture of yourself in the next 5 or ten years. It does not matter who you are now, what matters is who you will be in the future."

This in fact, is an extremely important stage of anyone's development (evolution, if I may say so). However, it is important to bear in mind that certain amount of "internal motivation" is essential for this to be of any use at all.

Another aspect of this matter that is important to understand that, it all must start from your beliefs first. As long as you haven't got your beliefs covered in attempt to change your life, no amount actions or thinking can change anything.

Remember that everyone of us, whether we realize it or not, had been programmed in a certain way, be it by our parents, friends, school or environment. So it is important to first realize this, and only then you can make suitable adjustments to your thoughts.

The flow goes like this:

PROGRAMMING --> THOUGHTS --> DECISIONS --> ACTIONS --> RESULTS

Understanding this, if something is wrong with your programming, no amount of effort to change the result will be of any use. Nor would you be able to change your results by merely changing the way you think about things, let alone act. Simply put, START WITH YOUR PROGRAMMING.

"As common as it may be to anyone, you might not feel motivated all the time. There are moments when you feel miserable and seem to lose your energy. Embrace the feelings and realize that they are only temporary. "

Couldn't agree more.

"Even though you fail this one, you will win back at another turn. "

Bear in mind though, what Einstein said a while ago that "doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results is the definition of insanity."

"Life is not about how many times you fail, it’s about how many times you bounce back when you fail. "

What a cliche.

"Learn lessons when you fail. Never lose your hopes and strengths. Remember that every cloud has a silver lining. There’s a pot of gold at the other end of the rainbow. "

Yes Yes Yes. LEARN THE LESSONS WHEN YOU FAIL.

Whatever you do now, do it with passion. Being passionate in the things you do is one of the key to success.

"One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is the man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life." - Edward B. Butler

"Even if you are passionate in what you do, problems will still pop up. For as long as you live, you will never be able to go away from problems. Fortunately, you can choose how to respond to problems."

We cannot "want" rain not to come, but we can always bring an umbrella with us.

"When you come across problem or turbulence in life, bear in mind that you are bigger than them. You are the master. You can tell what to do. This mindset is closely related to having a positive mental attitude which in turn defines your self-image.

Sometimes, it can be a "chicken and egg" thing. Which one comes first, self-confidence and self-esteem in order for you to be able too look at problems small? Or is the other way around. Whichever is the order or argument, bear in mind the quote "Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them!"

"How do you see yourself? Whatever you say to yourself will make you. If you expect positive outcomes, then you have to start feeding yourself positive attributes. Self confidence is likely to become a leading result as a consequence of having positive mental attitude."

Back to the issue of "What do you BELIEVE yourself to be?"
