The way to English proficiency

Hello everybody,

My name is morgen. I am Indonesian and would like
to improve my English.

I like to read. In my opinion, one of the better ways
to increase your English proficiency is to read more and learn by
looking up the new words in the dictionary.

What is your opinion?

well, I suppose it depends... which skill of proficiency (does such thing exist?) do you want to improve? I'd say if you want to improve your speaking and pronunciation, you should try to imitate how the native speakers speak... probably one of the ways that would make this easier is by singing along while you're listening to an English song....

Fun way = Go play some game

Better way than fun way =
Watch some movies,
or, if you like,
you can watch WWE,
sometimes they do some promo for the match,
they speak fluently so it's easy to hear them

Extreme way= Go to USA or UK or Australia

^^ yup preety extreme and expensive way to improve your english

I found up that watching good tv show like Oprah winfrey show and English news channel is quite good method . She had good articulation and quite understandable for rookie like me. I also recommend to watch more movies and listen more english songs and sing along (yups... its fun)

But remember the most important thing is confident enough to speak, remember.. There are no strict rules to speak. It just the matter of communication... as long as our listener understand what you mean to say it will be enough. Coz evey region have their own style (British, American, or even Singaporean with their Singlish style...)

But if u want to improve your skill in structure and grammar, perhaps conventional way is still the best. Open your book and join English course.
