guys, I'm doing research for my thesis, the topic is the preference of using English.

please help me by filling my questionnaire
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/678TMWP

thanks beforehand...

btw I want to share some of my opinion, according to what I see and hear, the English words usage by Indonesian people is increasing dramatically, for example in information and technology vocabulary like mouse, or download, and many more.

Also I noticed that in most of the mall in jakarta, they use english words in their direction board. The most apparent example is the usage of "exit" sign, the green colored one that usually pointing emergency exit door. why don't they use something like "keluar", I think it's better, because if in emergency case, people who can't read english still able to understand it.

Thank You for joining us Grandra9on.../heh

Why we use english words in some notice board because it's more effective than indonesian words.../ok

For example : we use word "exit" than "keluar".../hmm

the "exit" words have lesser letter than "keluar" in bahasa...

I guess u understand what i say.../hmm

Sorry for my bad english.../wah

Hiya, Thank's for joining :-bd

We will have 'English Language' option soon, so don't worry ;)

yeah, or maybe English as 2nd language in Indonesia... many people in government are starting to use some English words, even in public appearance or public speech... :(

by now, more people in Indonesia is adept to English
that's because
from elementary school,
we teach english to the kids
as for me
I learnt english for the first time when I was in the first grade
as I live my daily life
I found that English is everwhere
when I play the game,
when I surf on the internet,
when I read a manual book for some product, etc
the same goes to everyone
that's why English become some kind of secondary language
even though we don't use English for daily conversation

now I come to think of it, I just realize that there are no console games that use Indonesian language... yeah, 99% in Indonesia use English, except children games, like the one they sold in bookstore... hahaha...:D

well in fact, English was my first language :)

Well I quite agree with TS cause in fact it 's rare for people in INdonesia ( especially Indonesian ) to speak English as their first language...

Same with me, I started to speak English when I was in first grade in Junior High School but fortunately for me I didn't find such a big difficulities in speaking English except speaking in British style :))

When in Junior High School, i know "English Day" and 95% students in that school doesn't use English...I'm one of them =)) =))

I don't agree with TS...i think indonesian language is created by Indonesia...why Indonesian must use English for their Primary language ? It's from me....

Regards,

Yeah..

Same thing was happened to me.. /wah

i can't speak english everywhere and with everybody, because most indonesian people are not learn english..

English is the language of business so its quite necessary to increase our command of English...teachers should encourage conversational English
As a traveler myself, I found that its essential to be able to converse in one language that can be considered "universal"

I am not a native English speaker, and Im a work in progress when it comes to improving my English skills:)

I find it advisable if both languages are used such as we can find in 'Soeta' air port. Anyway, it has become a commonplace to see or hear people use English.

guys.. indonesian who able to speak english is just below 9%... wew should take that rank up.. compare to the singaporean or even malaysian, shame for us..

@rudygay22 : yeah probably, because people in indonesia is too freak with his culture, i mean , they always talk "Ngapain ngomong bahasa penjajah begitu", or sometimes "Mendingan ngomong bahasa sendiri daripada bahasa punya orang"

True.. I think so.....
