============================================================================================
7.
- Ma Tuan Yang (709-788)
Tzu : Tao I
Hao : Tao I Chu Shih
Incarnation: Ma Ming (Asvaghosa)
Ma Tao I is the student of Nan-Yue Huai-Jang, a disciple of Hui Neng. He is recognized as one of the lineage in Zen.
- Pai Yu Chan (Born 1194?)
Tzu : Ju Hui
Hao : Hui Chiung Tzu
Tao Hao: Pai Yu Chu Shih
Incarnation: Nan Yue Ta Ti
Pai Yu is a farmer who opened the 108 meditation halls in LuSan mountain.
It is coincidental (or not) that one of the zen disciples of Ma Tao I is called Pai Chang (720-814).
8. Lo Wei Chun (1442-1527)
Tzu: Lo Meng Hong
Hao : Lo Ching 羅清or Lo Tzu
Incarnation: Tai-shang Ta-ti-tzu Kung-yuan Chen-jen
A version stated that Lo attained the patriarch in 1488 during Ming dynasty. He was born in Shandong, was an orphan since little and was raised by his aunt and uncle. He was a soldier as his family has served in military, stationed at MiYun Garrison (about 80 km northwest of Beijing). Lo in 1470 set out in search of masters, and for 13 years had a spiritual journey with different teachers and long period of meditation. He was enlightened in 1482, saw a stream of white light while he was meditating.
He was a great religious teacher and started to preach. Because of jealousy by Confucians, he was imprisoned. Here he showed his spiritual superiority over a monk ShioYin from Tibet. Lo was the only person in Beijing able to silence him. His movement is also called Lo sect 羅教 (Lo Jiao). He was buried in MiYun county
Many sects developed based on his teaching, and adopt Lo as patriarch. Lo never put himself in this patriarch lineage, this lineage most possibly created later.
9. Huang De Hui 黃德輝 (1624-1690)
Incarnation: Yuan-shih Tien-tsun
Huang is a native from Jiang si province. There was a gap between Lo and the next patriarch, Huang was in LuShan and received the transmission by the spirit of Lo and thus become the 9th patriarch in 1662.
He was believed to be the founder of Way of Former Heaven (Hsien Tien Tao) and successfully established the sect in his hometown. One version said he was executed, thus the sect is declining for about 50 years.
10. Wu Tzu Hsiang (1714-1784)
Hao : Ching Lin
Incarnation: Wen-chang Ti-tsun
Wu attained the patriarch at Youyuan temple.
11. He Ku (1730-1795)
Hao : Liao Ku
Incarnation: Chiu-tian Tou-mu Tien-tsun
After Wu's death in 1784, the patriarch was handed to He Liao Ku. 11 years later (1795) he was exiled into military service in GuiZhou, bringing the sect to the southwest.
12. Yuan Tui An (1760-1826)
Tzu : Zi Lian
Hao : Chih Chien, Wu Tien

Incarnation: Nan-Hai Ku-Fo (Avalokitesvara) from Chengdu
The transfer of patriarch was believed in 1826. The patriarch shared by this two men is a sign of splitting from Hsien Tian Tao. There are a number of new sects arose from Hsien Tien Tao: YuanMing Tao, GuiYi Tao, TungShan She, KuiKen Men, and I Kuan Tao.
14. Yao He Tian 姚鶴天
Hao: Ming Chih
Incarnation: Yao-Chih Chin-Mu
Yao is the first patriarch exclusive to I Kuan Tao. But not much was known about him. Another author suggested that until the time of the 17th patriarch, Lin Jin Mi was named as the 14th patriarch (who is the continuing patriarch in Hsien Tien Tao) and Zhang Tian Ran replaced him with Yao.
15. Wang Hsi Meng (1821-1884)
Tzu: Wang Chueh I 王覺一
Hao: Pei-hai Lao-jen
Incarnation: Shui Ching Tzu (Sui-Ching Ku-Fo)
Some authors regarded Wang as the true founder of I Kuan Tao. He was an orphan from Qingzhou in Shandong. Other author suggested Wang is related to White Lotus Wang Family Sect at ShiFo Kou (Stone Buddha Village) in HeBei.
He founded this new religion in 1878 while studying with a sectarian teacher from ShanXi. A recent unearthed document from the Qing dynasty noted that Wang propagated the three in one religion (san-jiao yi-guan zhi zhi) or I Kuan Jiao 一貫教 (I Kuan religion). He proclaimed universal salvation of the three era (san-cao pu-du). He added to the initiation ritual the dotting of the "soul opening" by hand and abolishing the strict regulations on vegetarian and sexual abstinence. Wang was a medium and quite a literate man, he traveled around the central province SiChuan as a diviner. He also did spirit writing, and has written many sectarian books.
