If your 1st language is not English,
Then answer my question below very quickly only in second

When you answer my question below, pls don’t let you think first..

Ok, Answer the question in second !! very very quickly!!!
you will not get any benefit if u dont want to follow this rule...

ok, ready... pls click the following question button:
You DO NOT like your mother, right??

The answer...
Tell me your answer > Yes or Not??

Lets assume our fact for this matter is “We love our mother, we, of course, like her so much…”

1. If your answer is “Yes I do” means Good! You speak with English Standard style

2. If your answer is “NO I don’t” means not Good! You speak English with Indonesian style

tell yours is no.1 or 2??

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Although I know this theory, practically I my self always have this kind of trouble… X(

conclusion:
To Understand the English Culture Well Is Important to Learn English

i answer it.....what the fucked are you asked for...<<< serious

when you ask like that

i am not like my mother but LOVE my mother than my GIRLFRIEND

My answer is YES no matter how...

If the question is referring to physical similarity, and of course my answer is YES... I am a "he" not a "she" :D

If the question is referring to like or dislike factor, then is still YES... I don't LIKE my mother because I LOVE my mother...

Although she is not in this world anymore... I still miss her... miss u mom... miss u so much /lv @};-

===================================================================

hi bro riviera, bro asga, and bro Gustavexv

thanks for joining the "test"

unfortunately, all of you are misunderstanding with this "test" :(

Why I am saying "misunderstanding"?
because I am not talking about "mother". That's only a sample question.... :(
the point is "the way we (indonesian) reply a negative question" :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

but this is NOT your fault, This is, sure, my fault...

I am sorry if My explanation on what the intention of this test is not clear enough...

have a look the explanation below (copas from 1st post above):

Whahahahaa... now I think I understand what you were saying... :D

I found this type of question sometimes in the movies and the answer sometimes confuses me... if I am using my "Indonesian-to-English" answer then the answer will be (or tend to be) different (with the one in the movie), Right?

I don't know the exact theory, and I don't know how to explain it properly but I think I can (at least) grasp the idea. ;)

.

hahah
i'm indonesian
thanx for the test

Yup..
Neither do i…
That is why this game will make so many misunderstanding…
have a look the previous posts... in this thread

I don't know the exact theory...
.

This is not only happened to us (Indonesian) but also Chinese, Brazilian, Vietnamese...

have a look the following discussions:

JAPANESE
But Japanese get confused over 'Yes' and 'No' because usually in Japanese, you use 'Yes' when agreeing to a negative statement (such as, Yes, I can't go). So I had students who thought I was saying, I can (stressed ) go when I was saying I can't go. Very dangerous.

BRAZILIAN
Incredible, we have the same problem around here; people learning English here will use 'yes' to agree with a negative question.

A:Haven't you called Sally?
B:*Yes (but they mean "no...".)

hahah
i'm indonesian
thanx for the test

hehehe u r very welcome!

It also happened to me many times… when I discussed anything with my colleagues from west countries… I always forget this theory…
And they are confused with my answer, and then quickly I revised my answer… xixixi

If you have friends (whose 1st language is bhs indonesia) and they study in Australia, English, or America, then ask them about this problem and they will be smile…

Or

If you have friends (whose first language is bhs indonesia) who work with foreigners

Or

If some of your colleagues are not Indonesian. Then you work together with them, you will understand this ‘funny’ problem…

==========================================

btw,
do u have Chinese/Taiwanese/Vietnamese/Japanese friends?
If yes, then try this kind of negative questions to them, and they are mostly trapped... ;)

My Answer "Not really", so what it means?

imo,
perhaps, it depends on what u mean by saying "Not really"... ;)

my answer is..........

deng-dong, time is over

haha perhaps it means u didnt answer it in seconds
or u did answer it but i took u 1 minute or more??

You are the person who knows the truth... not me ;)

for both of you,
Thanks for the participation..., I do appreciate...

ofcourse i love my mother.......!! rofl

the strange thing is u said "u love your mother???" not "like" ? why?
or u have cheated?

honestly, pls tell me whether u did answer the question like what u said above in only no more than 2 seconds...?

If yes, it means you were not influenced by the negative question whatsoever...

it is then a standard english way... :D

congratulation!

*wah hebat juga nih om... kalo gw sih secara reflek bilangnya NO krn pertanyaanya "you dont like"...

thanks

*who's next?

yes I do...
what kind of question is that /heh
surprising.

hehehe no wonder... ur 1st language is english...

---

yes, I have to give a negative one...
the more provocative the better the question...

and i have to define a general question which is valid for all people
for instance > about mother... all of us have a mother and mostly love her...

this is why I give u all such question...

thanks 4the participation

i`m an indonesian...

so i choose no 2
